Utility Allowances

Utility allowances are used the rental calculation to lower the rent the participant is responsible for based on the utilities they are required to pay. These amounts are not the actual amount of utilities paid by the occupant, but an average for the type of unit and household size. 

For example:

If your rent responsibility is calculated to be $400 and the utility allowance is $200, then your rent portion would be $200.
